My Students

Have you ever kept a journal or collection of stories? Have you thumbed through the pages of your work and reread the entries or stories? My students need a place to organize their work and the tools to begin to work as authors and Write Away.

This class has a strong sense of community and are a solid group of self driven learners.

We have achieved this by supporting each other and accepting/celebrating each others abilities and strengths. We then use then to form a strong learning team. We are all very different and have something to give. They have really shown me that a love of learning is in all children.

My Project

Why is writing important? Writing builds confidence in a child's sense of self and voice. Writing helps kids create and strengthen their identities. Writing fosters a child's emotional growth. Writing helps kids develop critical thinking skills. Writing leads to guaranteed improvement in academic achievement. Why wouldn't we want to give them the opportunity to Write Away? By supporting this project you will give my students two personal journals each for writing and a personal journal for recording high-frequency words for reference during writing. The students will also be supported during our Writer's Workshop, by a hand-on high-frequency word wall and book/journal bins for organizing their journals.

My students are ready to take off on the road to life long writers.

Together let's give them the keys that will propel them down this road so they can Write Away. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself Any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go." Dr. Seuss
