Would You Have Liked to be an Iroquois?

My students need 25 copies of "Life in a Longhouse Village" in order to allow each student a chance to read out of their own book.

My Students

Have you ever tried to keep 5 different Native American tribes separate? It is hard being a 6th grader and learning about different tribes. By allowing us to each have a book to look at, you are ensuring that all of us will be able to keep the information separate.

My students are an amazing group of students.

They are very restless and anxious to learn. We are in a very rural area, which is low income as well. Many students have challenges that they face at home and school becomes a safe haven for them. Even with these challenges they press on, trying to better themselves.

My Project

This book will allow the students to see for themselves the details of how the Iroquois lived. Instead of me having to hold one book and try to keep their attention by reading to them, we can take turns and do "popcorn" reading as a group. Each child will have their own book to hold on to.

It is important that I am able to bring visuals into my student's lives.

Without bringing in these "extracurricular" items, I am left with the bare bones of what is needed. I love exposing my students to as many new experiences as possible.
