This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day my students come in excited to make music. Last year the 3rd and 4th graders learned the recorder and I would like the opportunity to give them another musical experience in 5th grade to build on what we learned last year.
My students are amazing with a thirst to learn new things.
They are always up for an adventure! Our school is located in the East Bay area. After music being eliminated from the elementary level for five years we are in the second year of trying to rebuild a compete music education program.
My Project
Students will use the class set of ukuleles to not only experience the joy of making music but also the dedication and responsibility associated with taking on an instrument. It will enable students to continue to build upon the learning they were able to do last year on the recorder and also move from a wind instrument to a string instrument.
Donations to this project will allow us to purchase a class set of ukuleles and make them available to all students.
Students who may have been excluded previously from such an experience in the past will now have the chance because the cost and expense of learning an instrument will no longer be a barrier.
