My Students

Have you ever struggled to make all the wires for your electronics neat and organized? It is almost impossible to keep wires tangle free, therefore, I'm asking for wireless headphones and a CD player to add to the listening center I implemented this school year.

Right now, we are using a very old tape player and headphones for our listening center, that were passed down to me by the school librarian.

My students come from very low income families and often don't have the proper care and love from home, so it is my desire to give them the absolute best here at school. Many of my students come to school without the necessary materials, so I use much of my own money to provide for them as needed.

My Project

I will use this CD player and headphones every day in my classroom. We use literacy centers for an hour each and every day we are at school. The listening center is one my students thoroughly enjoy going to. These materials I am asking for will give my students better quality materials for a center they enjoy so much. Not only is this center fun for them, but it also pays dividends towards their reading fluency. Hearing books read aloud has been proven to increase decoding ability as well.

I feel these materials I am asking for will not only increase my students reading ability, but it will also help me to continue to give them the absolute best that they deserve.

These materials will allow for a more productive listening center, where we have the necessary materials to run that center efficiently. It will allow for students to be able to hear books read aloud for enjoyment, as well as help them grow in reading ability and fluency.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
