My students need a classroom library such as Levels K, L, and M Nonfiction in order to become lifelong learners. Half of the books included are nonfiction, promoting my students to learn about the world around us.
My 2014-2015 classroom will be filled with thoughtful, innovative, CURIOUS learners, just waiting to explore the world around them. Unfortunately, this will be an added classroom to the school, vacant of a classroom library and other needed materials.
My creative, diverse, and enthusiastic students come from Albemarle County in Virginia.
Together, our school represents more than twenty countries, causing us to be a minority majority school! With such different backgrounds, each student brings something special to the classroom. This year I plan on embedding discovery and exploration into our classroom so that we can authentically learn about the ones around us, along with those so far away. Many of the following books focus around culture, geography, and customs.
My Project
My students need a classroom library such as Levels K, L, and M Nonfiction in order to become lifelong learners. Half of the books included are nonfiction, promoting my students to learn about the world around us. My students need to be reading! They need to be reading nonfiction texts. They need to be learning about how the world works around them and what is truly outside of the cafeteria doors. I have chosen 100 leveled readers that range from the first through fourth grade. Within these 100 books, 50% are nonfiction which will allow my students to dig into the world around them. These kids deserve to have a quality classroom library in order for the lifelong learner in them all to blossom.
Our classroom will function much more effectively with a quality library filled with high interest texts for all reading levels.
My students need to be reading books that carry real meaning and that have potential to change lives. By providing these students the following books, they will hold the key to becoming critical thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and enthusiastic lifelong learners. This classroom library will be the first step in the right direction.
