It may be surprising that something as simple as a piece of furniture would have such a huge impact on the success of a lesson, but it really does. Having a u-shaped table is the perfect tool for reading instruction. I can see each of my students' work without interrupting their thinking or calling anyone out. Having such close proximity to each student, helps reduce behavior problems and increases my ability to give immediate feedback. Because of their effectiveness, these tables are coveted at our school and in our district. I was on a waiting list for 3 years. When I finally got a table it was wobbly, and eventually broke.\r\n\r\nWhen the new table arrived, my students were ecstatic. They loved that it has a white board surface and that it didn't squeak when they put pressure on it to write. The smiles on their faces and their surprise that people that didn't even know them were willing to help buy a brand new table for them was priceless. Thank you so much for your generousity. Through your giving, you gave my students an inviting and safe space to work, and you showed them what it looks like to give without expecting anything in return.","fullyFundedDate":1771027038619,"projectUrl":"project/positioned-for-success/9853009/","projectTitle":"Positioned For Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jasper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10327050"},{"teacherId":9068639,"projectId":9836881,"letterContent":"I don't even know where to begin except with a heartfelt thank you. Because of your generosity, our Pre-K classroom has been filled with new opportunities, excitement, and joy that simply wouldn't have been possible otherwise.\r\n\r\nWhen I shared my project, I hoped it might come to life—but thanks to you, that hope became a reality. The moment the materials arrived, my students' eyes lit up with curiosity and wonder. For many of them, these resources are more than just classroom supplies—they are tools that help them explore, imagine, and build confidence in themselves as learners.\r\n\r\nIn Pre-K, every small moment matters. Whether it's learning to hold a pencil, working together with a friend, or discovering something new for the very first time, these experiences shape how children see school and themselves. Because of your kindness, my students are able to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning that supports their growth in ways that will stay with them far beyond our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their future. Your generosity allows us to celebrate their elementary journey with a meaningful and lasting gift—a book of their own. In a school community rich with diversity, where many students are simultaneously learning to read and learning English, this gesture is incredibly powerful. It honors their hard work, perseverance, and growth, and reinforces the love of reading we have worked so intentionally to cultivate.\r\n\r\nResearch consistently shows that wide, independent reading plays a critical role in building students' background knowledge and vocabulary, which are essential for strong reading comprehension. As students encounter a variety of texts, they are exposed to new ideas, language structures, and perspectives that deepen their understanding of the world. Studies also demonstrate that the volume of reading a child engages in is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, particularly in literacy development. By providing students with books they can read, revisit, and cherish, you are directly contributing to their continued growth as readers and learners.\r\n\r\nEqually important, having access to books at home has been shown to significantly impact students' motivation to read and their development of a reading identity. When children own books, they are more likely to see themselves as readers and to engage in reading for enjoyment, not just as a school task. For many of our students who have limited access to books at home, this gift represents not only a resource but also a message: that reading matters, and that they are readers. Because of you, our students are leaving elementary school with both the tools and the confidence to continue their literacy journey.","fullyFundedDate":1747846461287,"projectUrl":"project/gift-the-joy-of-reading/9325210/","projectTitle":"Gift the Joy of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Podagrosi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10020585"},{"teacherId":9068639,"projectId":9356364,"letterContent":"I hope this message finds you well. The children were immediately drawn to its unique shape and vibrant presence. One student exclaimed, \"It looks like a rainbow!\"—a perfect reflection of the joy it brought.
