What Did You Just Say? (Spanish Voice Recording)

My students need four digital voice recorders to record and hear their voices to improve pronunciation in Spanish.

My Students

Do you remember feeling insecure while speaking a second language? Imagine if you were in a supportive learning environment, could capture your voice, listen to the recording, and then make improvements. With limited technology, our students need these voice recording devices.

These urban students are high-achieving, motivated students who need more access to technology.

In a school of 1650 students, we currently have about 75 computers! Can you imagine? And, those computers don't have recording devices. As a foreign language teacher, I am always trying innovative ways to record student voices, but one recorder for 31 students takes a very long time, time that students could be using for their own practice.

My Project

With these four recorders and digital technology, students are going to be able to record their voices in Spanish and note the progress they make throughout the year. As their instructor, I'll be able to assess their progress and help them identify areas of need. These four recorders will make a huge difference in our classroom!

You could create a classroom situation in which four students are able to record 1-2 minute narrations, upload them, share them with classmates, and eventually place them in a digital portfolio.
