My Students

Ever had your lunch squished? My students have had their poor lunches squished by other students backpacks. They are often in search of their things among the clutter. Digging for their belongings has become second nature to them.

I have a class of 22 students.

They attend an Chinese immersion school in California where they learn a second language. These students are a bunch of eager and enthusiastic students that love to learn new ideas and concepts. They love to share their thoughts and enjoy each others' companionship on the playground and in the classroom. They are quite a delight to work with and seeing their faces when they understand an idea is great.

My Project

My students need a Mobile Backpack Storage Cart, an organized system for their backpacks and jackets. This way they will be able to quickly get things they need from their backpack. They won't need to dig through the mountain of backpacks to just look for theirs. The students will see their backpacks on the hooks and not have to struggle with finding their belongings within a pile of clutter. It is quite like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes. Having the mobile backpack unit will give them easy access so they will be able to quickly return to continue with their current task or assignment after retrieving items from their backpack. Their will be less of a traffic jam and no need for the avalanche of backpacks any longer.

This project is important because it will impact many students for years to come.

They will have a sense of their own space on the storage unit and it will give them more responsibility on keeping their things clean and neat. This organization and responsibility will carry over into all areas. Finally they won't feel squished or trapped in a sea of backpacks. Their lunches will be safe and no more squished sandwiches!
