This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Ms. Y, there aren't any pencils left in the basket."

I teach fourth grade in a rural, low-income area of Northern California.

We are considered a Title I school as the vast majority of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. We also have a high percentage of ESL (English as a Second Language) students.

My Project

I never thought I'd say this, but we've run out of pencils! As I'm sure you already know, pencils and erasers are essential classroom tools. Being without either is an obvious detriment to our learning. Because of this, I am requesting boxes of EarthWrite #2 pencils and round pencil cap erasers! With this new supply of pencils and erasers, we will be able to continue our practice of all subjects by diagramming, drawing, taking notes, editing our work, and solving mathematical equations. Let's keep the writing coming!

Your donation will help ensure that for the remainder of this year (and part of the next), my students will never be without the most basic school supplies: pencils and erasers.
