My Students

Help lead our students into the future and beyond.

I am part of a team of three teachers that work with the 5th and 6th graders at our elementary school.

The school is in a high poverty area in Indiana and qualifies for universal free lunch. We have a large percentage of English Language Learners (ELL) whose parents don't speak English. In spite of this, we have a high percentage of parent involvement.

My Project

We have started to get a small computer area in our classroom and would love to have digital cameras to add pictures and videos to the students' projects. Our students would be able to take pictures of things in nature that represent the geometric concepts we are studying in math. They will be able to take pictures to complete a food web in science. For reading, they will take pictures of an activity and write captions when talking about sequence. All of these activities would engage the students as well as give us a way to evaluate their understanding of the material that was taught. The pictures and videos would also be used during our 6th grade promotion ceremony to show the parents all the wonderful activities we have done over the year as well as document the service learning projects that we do during the school year.

We hope that this will be the next step in getting our student a brighter future.

They will be learning the skills to help them make a better life for themselves and their families. Please help lead our students to their future and beyond.
