My Students

"I can't see", "Move", "Get out of my way." Do you remember saying those words when you couldn't see what the teacher was modeling? Well, your teacher didn't have an Elmo document camera.

My students are excitable third graders in south central Illinois.

We live in very rural community. Most of us live on farms. In our community, unemployment is very high. Most of the students are considered free or reduced. My third graders are so excited about learning and completing hands-on projects. These students try their best and want to achieve.

My Project

The Elmo document camera will allow students to see a wide variety of activities and modeling up close without crowding around trying to see. The Elmo connects to a multimedia projector which my classroom currently has. When I model a science experiment, students will be able to see via the projector and SMART board (which I currently have) step-by-step without crowding around. All students will be able to see each exact step. Also, when modeling handwriting with the document viewer, all students will be able to see a "close-up" and personal view of how to correctly form letters. Additionally, when modeling writing or other various activities, students will be better able to see, since I will not be standing directly in front of the SMART board. If students know what is expected, they will work toward that goal.

My students want to achieve.

In order to best do this, teacher modeling is necessary. When students can't see, it is difficult for them to see exactly what is happening or expected. By having the Elmo document camera, students would be better able to see what is expected and work harder to achieve what is expected. This will inspire a love of learning and encourage student to try their best the first time.
