Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The goal for my students is to be college and career ready when they leave our district. As they reach the end of the school year they will be required to take their individual pieces of work and create a multimedia year-end project which includes sound and narration.

My students are middle school students in an inner city school district.

Many don't have access to computers outside of the classroom so I try to make their time in the classroom as valuable and enriching as possible. We explore the Internet and bring multimedia from it into our projects. I want all of my students to be exposed to all of the technology that is available so that they can compete with students from other districts.

My Project

My students have been using 10 year old technology and software to compete in the 21st century. They need the tools to level the playing field. The replacement of our headphones with newer technology and microphones will introduce them to a whole host of new projects and new ways to integrate technology into their schoolwork.

How would you like to take an exam on a subject you never studied before?

That is what we are asking of our students. They do not have the technology in their classroom to compete with students from other districts or to be college and career ready yet we will send them out there eventually to do just that. When they apply for a job will they be the best candidate for the job because they had the best exposure to technology? If I have anything to do with it they will but they need the tools.
