Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Let them have technology! Most of my students have never used computers until this school year. Providing my students with a variety of classroom experiences is my number one goal. School should be an exciting place to learn. A document camera would give me the ability to make lessons more adventurous.
My students have very few hands-on experiences.
Most of my students have never used a computer, flown in an airplane, or visited the ocean. My students are among 700 students of similar economic conditions. Living in California, these children have so many opportunities all around them, but for many reasons, they are unable to experience what this state offers.
My students know that education is the key to their future success. They are bright little sponges who light up my room when they enter it. Many of our students face challenges that reach far beyond the school day. For many, their biggest accomplishment is to make it to school on time. Our school prides itself in offering a variety of positive experiences for our youth. Leadership skills, empowerment, high expectations, teamwork and respect and responsibility are a part of our school vision which we strive to model and practice every day.
My Project
My students need a document camera and laser pen for presentations, whiteboard markers, classroom organizers and cleaning products. A document camera would open up many new experiences for our classroom. Students would be able to enjoy rich lessons which would include access to the Internet.
Technology in the classroom is vital. Colorful presentations and graphic organizers would be used during lessons with the help of the document camera. A laser pen would assist with presentations. Students would also be able to have access to the document camera and the laser pen.
The whiteboard markers are always a need. Students use the markers for their whiteboards which aid in our daily lesson practices. Students check in for understanding by using their whiteboards and their whiteboard markers. Their current markers are almost out of ink! The floor tape would be used to tape off sections of the floor so students would have a clearer idea of their space on the floor during carpet time. The disinfectant wipes would be used daily as I clean the desks myself daily to ensure germs are not being spread in the classroom.
Your donation to my project would ensure a more purposeful educational experience for the students in my classroom.
Students will have access to a variety of resources with the assistance of the document camera. My students will have access to more technology with the use of the document camera. Because we only have one working computer in the classroom, the document camera would provide the same Internet access to all students in the classroom at the same time. Exposure to technology is a must!
