Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How do you teach Photo Shop skills without a computer that has Photo Shop? How do you use your Hover Cam or Smart Board without a computer that supports it? My school is supposed to be a Technology Magnet, but recent budget cuts have made my school a place from the dark ages.

My 6th graders are full of energy, and really enjoy school.

Many are bussed in from lower income areas of Los Angeles, so they are dedicated learners. They have chosen my school because of the "technology" aspect, but our school has been unable to procure new equipment. Students and teachers are tech savvy, but our computers are over ten years old, so they can't easily access the Internet and tools the latest computers have.

My Project

My students will benefit immensely from this computer. They can use the HP pavilion computer to create, edit and publish their online or digital projects. As well, it will help me deliver my lessons in a quick and easy way. With so many online resources that engage students' interests, its a shame teachers don't have the equipment to access those resources. This laptop will allow me to demonstrate lessons more clearly. The new computer will allow me to plug in efficiently to the technology already available: Hover Cam, Smart Board, etc.

By funding this project, I will be able to successfully compete with the technology that captures the students' attention.

Texting, Twitter, and Facebook are at the kids' fingertips (literally), so a successful teacher must be able to capture their attention with equally interesting and current technology. This new computer will quickly and vividly provide learning opportunities for my students.
