Supplies for Everyday Activities

My students need a A/V cart so that I can present the media to my students with an appropriate cart. They also need scissors and a storage rack for everyday activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom has been changed to a room behind the auditorium, in the middle of October. When the school moved us, the new room did not have a an audio visual cart and I have been stacking the projector on top of a old overhead projector that does not provide the proper height nor space. The projector has a ELMO camera attached to the side and I have no space to use this feature and do the worksheets with my students. The school is under strict budget and the classrooms are also undersupplied for the students. I have to purchase any glue, staples, tape, etc myself, out of my own pocket.

My students are mostly of Hispanic nationality and many are ELLs.

They attend a school in a district that has received many budget cuts and the students' education gets lowered. The students have bright minds and are very curious about the world and they have no bottom to their curiosity. My students love to make crafts to help themselves understand the content at hand. They love to do these things, and when I can't supply them with the products that they need, they become disappointed and discouraged.

My Project

My students are brilliant students, many of them are bilingual or are currently learning to speak English. The visual part of the lesson is highly important to the students. The cart, while it is expensive, will provide a vital part of the classroom so that my students can work without leaving gaps in the their knowledge. They can not understand what I am teaching them because we are missing the way they can grasp the content better. The cart provides needed furniture for the students' classroom. The cart is also smaller than what I am currently using. My classroom is an unusual shape and space needs to be used optimally. The students do a lot of activities that require classroom supplies, which the school can't provide due to recent budget cuts. Scissorss will encourage the students to participate and to look forward to coming to school everyday.

This project is important because it provides my classroom with something that will benefit all of my students now!

and all of my future students as well. The scissors will help because I only have two scissors in the classroom and we can't accomplish some of the activities because we don't have enough supplies for the class. I have 20-30 students in each class and the 2 scissors get tedious to pass around. The cart will optimize the precious space in my classroom and also help build confidence in my students' view of the school and my classroom. When they see me having to improvise, they lower their expectations, but I do not. I would like to keep their expectations high, like I have my expectations for my students' high.
