This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

STEM means "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics," not the title. However, when my students are working with any of these areas, they truly are terrific and engaged and marvelous!

I teach 2nd grade at a Title I school in south Florida.

80% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and 90% of them do not have a computer at home. These statistics are vital when considering their exposure to technology and life experiences. Although we live near the beach and other fantastic learning venues, many of my families do not have transportation. The valuable experiences any of my students will learn from rely greatly on what I can offer them inside the walls of my classroom.

My Project

The STEM-based "Science Tools Supply Center" will provide my students with the basic tools necessary to promote scientific inquiry. Our school will be incorporating STEM theories, such as inquiry-based learning, into our instruction for the year. These resources are perfect to support this shift in our instruction. I LOVE that it comes with 12 of each tools, which will allow students to work in partnerships or small-groups. Every single scientific tool will spark my students curiosity and inspire them to think like scientists.

One of the hardest obstacles as a teacher is to learn a new method, but not have the materials within your classroom to effective teach the material.

I know this STEM kit will allow me to engage my students in experiments and make them hungry for science opportunities! Thank you for taking a look at my project!
