My Students

Could you imagine taking a test without being able to read it?

10 of the scholars in my classroom, most that came from another school, are a product of the achievement gap.

While their peers are reading books at level M, N, and O, my 3rd grade scholars are reading at a level G, H, I, the same reading level as a child in Kindergarten.

My Project

I am requesting 10 mp3 players to help those scholars get the accommodations that they need to take all tests that are not reading comprehension tests. There is only 1 of me, and 10 scholars that need support. With the mp3 players, I will be able to record the test as separate tracks, then send the students off with the mp3s of me reading the test. They could then work at their own pace, rewind, and free me up to be able to help more scholars and more efficiently monitor my class during testing. This would also ensure they always get the accommodations that they need, in case no one is available to read the test to them.

My scholars need accommodations in order to be successful in math, science, social studies, and grammar.

They can't read the tests that are written at a 3rd grade level, and will be tested in a few short months on the iLEAP. They must be able to get accommodations at all times so they can be as successful as possible on state standardized tests.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
