Space Between Words: Independent Reading

My students need 4 bean bag chairs to sit in during their independent reading time, instead of on the floor.

My Students

Learning is finding out what we already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers.

My students are fifth grade students, and they all range with different personalities.

From very mild personalities to a firecracker. Most of my students are in the low poverty range, and coming to school is something they enjoy. I love to see them reading their book.

My Project

Having Bean Bag Chairs for my students will allow them to take the time to read more comfortably and excel in their book. We are only allowed a certain amount of time to read their chapter books, and I want them to take the time to really get into their book and enjoy reading in a comfortable environment. During their independent reading time they are allowed to find a spot in the room to go and read. I see a lot of them reading on the cold floor, because I am a first year teacher I do not have the available funds to provide a lot of accessories in my classroom.

By supporting my students your donation will allow my students to feel comfortable when reading.

I hate to see them reading in uncomfortable spots in the room. With the few items I have in my room for independent reading, some of them get their feelings hurt if they do not have a pillow or some type of chair to read in. I feel this will help their reading level and they will be able to take a comprehension test over the book.
