I was able to purchase books from the \"Little Spot\" series and have been making our way through them. Each book tells the story of a different feeling \"spot\". These books help children identify their feelings and encourage the development of positive character traits.\r\n \r\nTeaching emotional intelligence has become necessary in elementary classrooms across the country. Students who cannot identify their emotions can't regulate their emotions. Unregulated emotions lead to classroom disruptions and behaviors that ultimately affect all learners in a classroom. After spending the last 18 years as a teacher, I can tell you that the lack of these skills has increased greatly over the years. Students aren't arriving at schools with the same sets of skills that they used to. As teachers, it is often up to us to find engaging ways to teach emotional intelligence. Because of your generous donation, I am now able to teach these skills each year to the students in my class.\r\n\r\nMy students have had so much fun learning about the \"spots\", and as the year progressed, I was able to watch my students put the lessons in the books to use. Without your help, I wouldn't have been able to purchase these books on my own.
