Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Sharks, the teeth, the size, the adventure.... Our students love sharks, every aspect, but our books have been loved so much they are falling apart. We need some new ones.
The students that are attending our school range from Kindergarten to fifth grade.
They love to read and especially enjoy nonfiction text. The students here regularly use the library for books as they do not have a large supply in their homes. The school is a Title 1, at-risk school, but you would never know by how hard these students work. The highly Hispanic population also gives a little extra challenge for the students, but they always strive to do their best.
My Project
The shark books I am requesting for the students will assist the students in learning about something that they are both interested in and that they may never get the experience to see for themselves. The students will be accomplishing research and Accelerated Reader comprehension tests on the nonfiction text with these new and up-to-date books.
These books will be used not just once, but over and over through out many years.
They will impact over 600 students a year and be used in many lessons both in classrooms, in the library, and just for enjoyment. Please help our students become successful readers of nonfiction text.
