Sculpting Artists Need Clay !

My students need modeling clay to make sculptures in their art class! We rarely get the chance to explore sculpture because clay is not within our budget- thank you!

My Students

Give us the chance to make sculptures with modeling clay...my students are begging to make 3-D art and use their hands! Our budget doesn't give us the chance to get this excellent modeling clay. It's the one medium the art room really lacks.

My art students are between 4 and 12 years old.

They are a diverse group of kids, who work beautifully together in our community oriented public school in Brooklyn, NY. Art learning can especially help our students who have learning challenges or needs, such as our English Language Learners, Special Needs students, students with emotional and behavior issues.

My Project

Using modeling clay to make sculptures engages students on wide range of levels, from strengthening their fine motor skills to giving them the chance to see how their hands and minds/ideas can come together to create a work of art! With each grade the use of clay will be linked to studies in their regular classroom strengthening their learning in that subject/area, for example: 1st grade students will be creating animals and their environment with the clay, as they are learning about animals in their classroom.

Our school is focused on interdisciplinary learning, meaning the learning taking place in their regular classroom is supported, strengthened, and deepened through their learning in art, which is why it would be especially important for them to continue their studies with this clay.
