This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
If you have ever been part of a school music program, you know exactly how life changing it can be. Please support us as we work to transform our students lives through music.
My students attend high school (9-12) in the inner city of Chicago.
They are inspiring, hard working, and creative. They do not have easy lives as many students come from very difficult situations and know all too well what poverty is like. They are amazing musicians!
My Project
I teach around 200 students each day. My largest music class has nearly 50 students in it. Music equipment is expensive, so we share all of it. We sanitize mouthpieces with rubbing alcohol at the beginning of each class and each student has to use a school instrument as most cannot afford to buy their own. With your help, I can say yes to more students that want to play trumpet or be in our drum line.
This project makes a difference in the lives of our students because without your help, we will not be able to get the items that we need.
I want to say yes to students that want to play music and not turn them away because of a lack of resources. Will you help us save music in our school?
