My Students

The students are excited to have a Kindle to read books on. Reading is so important to every aspect of our daily lives. Third grade is where a child transitions from learning to read to reading to learn. Kindles will change reading from a chore to an enjoyable experience.

I teach 3rd grade students at a public elementary school in Utah.

Students come from a mix of middle and low income families. Most students have 2 parents that work in order to pay the bills. I want to give my struggling readers the opportunity to use Kindles in the classroom. I believe this will encourage them to love reading and begin to see it as something they want to do, instead of something they have to do.

My Project

I want to give reluctant readers every advantage I can to help and encourage them to love reading. If a child is eager to use a Kindle to read a book they will spend more time reading. The more time they spend reading the better they will become. Third grade is such a critical time for struggling readers. If they can read on grade level it will give them a much smoother educational experience.

Read, read and read some more.

It is so important for students to be reading on grade level by the time they leave 3rd grade. If I can help those students who struggle in this area learn to love reading their education experience will be a great one!
