This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's get this started! Students want to read more on choices in an urban setting.

Reluctant readers enjoy reading books that they can relate to.

Students are lower level reading students that would like the opportunity to read more books that interest them and center on topics that they can identify with. The reluctant reading language art students are eager to discover more about the neighborhoods they come from and the choices that are made by individuals that live in those neighborhoods.

My Project

I am requesting art supplies for the warzone unit that we will be covering at the beginning of the school year. Students will read Our America and Yummy and use the art supplies requested to provide a visual interpretation of their understanding of their involvement in their community.

I find that it is important for students to discuss the importance of having a voice in their community.

With voice in their community there are choices that must be made in order to make something happen. With this unit we will be discussing and debating right and wrong choices and the impact of those choices on the individual and on the community.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
