My Students

Like the universe filled with countless diverse stars, the literary world has treasures that capture the imagination of readers of all ability levels. The Nook will open this universe to my 2nd grade readers with its appealing state-of-the-art technology.

In my classroom, I have students with different reading skills and levels.

Some students are language learners or struggling readers who are working on their fluency. At the other end of the spectrum, I have gifted and talented readers who read significantly above grade-level and who are looking for more choices beyond my small library. The Nook will open a vast library of books to help them grow with potential to do research.

My Project

This technology serves as a multi-level tool that will advance my learners. My struggling readers will hear the audio version on their headsets as they read along; this builds fluency and self-confidence. The animated illustration will help associate words and ideas. Also, my advanced readers will be excited by having more appropriate reading-level books that are literally at their finger tips. The Nook can be used as a research tool with its versatility. By exploring these applications, the devices will help students entered into the modern world of technology while enhancing their abilities at all levels.

The project will allow every child to be a lifelong learner with a thirst for reading.

The Nook is an ideal tool which gives access to quality literature. Favorite books can to be read over and over. Our job as teachers is to include English Language Learners. These tools represent major advancements in inclusion. Please help me inspire my students. Thank you!
