My Students

Like mice, my students scurry to the rug and sit down. Is it time for singing or a favorite story?! No, students race to the rug to avoid being last and have to sit on the stained parts!

I work with a wonderful group of kindergarten children in an immersion program.

The students are learning all of their subject areas like math, science and social studies through a second language. The children are thriving and doing well in the school setting.

My Project

Our classroom desperately needs a new rug! The one we are using now is over 10 years old! Though the custodians at my school do an excellent job of cleaning it each year, the stains left behind by each class of kindergarten children has taken a toll. During the school day, my students spend a lot of time on the rug. In fact, each day begins and ends on the rug! Children sit in a circle and share their thoughts and ideas with one another on the rug. They listen to stories, sing songs and recite chants and rhymes on the rug. The rug truly is a special gathering place in kindergarten!

By donating to this project, you will ensure that no children will have to sit on the stained parts of the rug.

In the future, I hope my students will scurry to the rug for happier reasons!
