My Students

Telling our students to live a healthier lifestyle is hard if we cannot provide them the environment to do so. We tell our parents to send their children to school with healthy snacks, such as fruit, yogurt and other snacks that require refrigeration.

Our students are young and impressionable.

They attend a healthy school that has a program that educates all of our students in fitness and nutrition. Most of our kids are Asian. The parents and their children respect the teachers very much. They see them as role models and will take their words seriously. As we promote a healthier lifestyle, we do our best to provide our students the environment to live a healthier life. Many of our students comply with our request of making healthy choices. We have changed our lunch menu to have healthier options. We have asked their parents to send their children to school with healthy snacks and they do! They have been sending their kids in with yogurt, sliced fruit and whole grain nutrition bars. Some food requires refrigeration and I would like to provide them with the proper storage so they can enjoy their snacks without it spoiling.

My Project

I am requesting a small refrigerator that can store small items such as yogurt, fruit and other healthy snacks that require refrigeration. This will allow parents to send their child in with healthy snacks without fear that it will spoil. We tell them about living a healthy life and the benefits of eating healthy and exercising, but if we cannot provide them with the environment to do so, they will not take it seriously. With a refrigerator, we can store ingredients that can be used to show students how to make a healthy meal or snack. They can use this information to teach their parents and they can develop healthy habits at home.

This donation will help our students live a healthier life.

They can use this information to educate their parents at home. We've seem glimpses of success with some students, but we wish to make it with all of our students. Our fitness and nutrition programs send recipes home with ways to make healthy meals and snacks. If we are able to show them in class, they will take more initiative to take part of living a healthy lifestyle.
