My Students

I want the absolute best for my students because of how hard they work in reading and writing every day in my classroom. I push and challenge my students to step outside their comfort zones to grow and develop as readers, writers, thinkers, and leaders.

My students are incredible!

They are readers that love to talk about and write about what they've read! They are artists who can create amazing projects, drawings, pottery, and paintings. They are writers who share their writing every day in my classroom, taking chances with new vocabulary, new styles, and new processes. We come together in my basement classroom every single day, and I feel lucky that I get to teach these students, and I want to give them all I can to further their academic successes.

My Project

Even though I am trying to become as paperless as possible, my students appreciate seeing their writing in a tangible way. We have no printer in my classroom, and the closest accessible printer is down the hall (about five classrooms away). My student computers are not connected to this one accessible printer, so the only ways students can get hard copies of what they need is to either share with me and wait for me to open and print what they need, or they need to get a pass to go to the library (one floor away and then 1/2 way across the school). I have been doing both of these options, but both are time consuming and take away from key instructional time. With a printer that my students have instant access to, they will be able to print immediately--saving time and encouraging even more writing!

This printer will be a change agent in my classroom.

I will be able to encourage students that are more comfortable to type assignments to do so. I will be able to provide quicker feedback since students will immediately be able to print their work. Students will also be able to get a bit more creative with a printer at the ready, and will be able to take more chances! Overall, a printer for my classroom will make an epic difference!
