As soon as the weather cleared, we began assembling the raised beds and preparing the soil. Students measured and leveled the ground, filled the beds, and began planting the first round of vegetables and herbs. Watching them apply math, planning, and teamwork in a hands-on setting has been truly powerful.\r\n\r\nOne especially meaningful moment came when of our young ladies, who typically hangs back and needs extra prompting to engage, walked right up and volunteered to help weed the garden - IN THE RAIN!. And she didn't stop until the job was done. Seeing her take that kind of initiative and feel confident in her role was a huge step—and a reminder of just how impactful this project is.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were so excited—they immediately started asking questions about what we'd grow and who would get to water the plants. Now, watering the garden has become one of the most sought-after jobs in class. Students have taken real ownership of the care and progress of the plants. It's been amazing to watch that sense of pride grow right along with the garden.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we hope to harvest some of our spring crops before the school year ends. Students are already looking forward to seeing the results of their hard work. Once fall arrives, we plan to dig even deeper—both literally and figuratively—by planting a wider range of crops and expanding our harvest goals.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this project possible. Your gift is planting seeds of lifelong skills and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1737728299784,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-hands-on-learning-through-inc/8992055/","projectTitle":"Supporting Hands-On Learning through Inclusive Gardening","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. Here is what they have to say:\r\n\r\n\"Thank you so much for donating to our library! All the new books are super interesting and will help to get people excited to read. I love browsing the books and seeing so many good options. My new favorite is The Poet X.\" \r\n\r\n\"Thank you so much for the class library. I love that we are lucky enough to have a good variety of books to read in the classroom. It is so helpful when I need a new book that instead of having to buy one or go to the school library I can just grab one out of the classroom Library. A book that I am going to read from the class library is The Martin by Andy Weir.\"\r\n\r\n\"I really appreciate those that gave money to the classroom library because almost every single book I've read this year has been from there. It was super useful, and i'm very glad that we had it. I read many great books that were from the classroom library, but so far, I've mainly liked The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Catcher In The Rye, and The Handmaid's Tale.\" \r\n\r\n\"I'm so glad that the classroom library has such an amazing selection of books!
