Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My goal in my classroom is to unlock the pathways to learning that all children have, but which can be difficult to find in children with special needs. My students can and will do amazing things with the right education and guidance.
I teach in a preschool autism classroom in a Title 1 school in northern VA.
My six students are a fun-loving, affectionate group of 2- to 5-year-olds. They are making great strides every day in their abilities to understand language and to communicate their wants, needs and thoughts. They are learning to play and socially engage with each other and those around them. It is always busy in my classroom, but it always lots of fun!
My Project
We will use the wall mount projector every day for circle time and group instruction activities. My students will use the projector along with a SmartBoard for labeling, identifying, matching, counting, tracing, learning about the weather, and singing and dancing along to songs. The wall mount projector will make the SmartBoard easily accessible to my students and will make one of their favorite learning times, circle time, much more fun and engaging.
Due to decreasing school budgets, it is difficult to find the funds to purchase technology and materials that can be essential in a special education classroom.
A wall mount projector will increase motivation and engagement among my students, making learning time more meaningful and increasing their chances of success.
