Physical Fitness for Healthy Kids!

My students need soccer balls, volleyballs, footballs, four square balls, frisbees, jump ropes, and basketballs to get our students in shape for our required fitness exam.

My Students

Fitness for all students! My students need help in preparing to become physically fit to pass a district required Fitness Test. We need basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls,footballs, frisbees and four square balls so all students can play PE instead of standing around to wait their turn.

My students are low-income students who are mostly AFDC assisted.

They enjoy playing outside but they aren't able to do so when they are at home. The area the students live in has a high crime rate and everyone stays indoors after dark. Most of the physical activity my students receive is at school during PE and recess. I have students who are overweight and they would really benefit from our own PE equipment. Our school is classified as a Title I school, in a very prominent district, which can receive extra assistance, but there still isn't enough money for everything that we need to be successful in physical fitness. My 5th grade class would benefit from having their own basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, and four square balls. This donation would allow all my students to participate in an activity instead of just running around the track or sharing a ball to play a game of kickball. This donation would also allow me to share this equipment with my other 5th grade teachers.

My Project

If I receive new PE equipment of: volleyballs, soccer balls, four square balls, footballs, frisbees and basketballs, it will allow me to take my students out to PE at least twice a week allowing all students to take part in the PE activity. At the moment we do not have enough equipment so students are standing around waiting their turn to play in games that we are having. We are trying to promote physical fitness and get the children interested in physical education am hoping with this donation, it will help encourage my students to become healthier and physically active on their own.

As we know, many children are overweight.

I have children in my class that need exercise on a regular basis. Being 5th graders, they are fully aware of how they look and they know that they are overweight. These children feel limited in what they can do physically. Receiving volleyballs, basketballs, footballs, frisbees, four square balls and soccer balls would allow me to achieve this goal and help my students lose weight and feel more comfortable in their bodies at such a young age.
