My Students

Do you remember Physical Education before all the advances in technology. Students would have to find their pulse, and figure their maximum heart rate by hand. This is an opportunity for my students to find their max heart rate immediately. This will help us save time in class.

My students are from all walks of life.

They attend a Charter school in Utah where there isn't a lot of funding for Physical Education equipment. They have positive attitudes and want to find new and exciting ways to stay healthy. They are learning about their Max heart rate. These students have different abilities when it comes to Athletics. But, they are willing to learn new things and are trying to do their best to live a healthy life.

My Project

We are looking to get Heart Rate Monitors for our various activities in class. I am only able to request 10. The monitors will be used to help the students understand how much physical activity is needed on an individual bases to create a good workout. Students will learn what shape they are in and will be able to monitor their success and their threshold for physical activity.

When we are changing a lifestyle, it is difficult to see results.

Heart Rate Monitors can help the students see their progress in physical activity. For instance, Suzie could start out running and be in her max heart rate zone in 30 seconds. If she improves her condition it may take her 1 minute of running to get to that heart rate zone. This will show she is in better shape and she will be able to see improvements.
