My students need glue and notebooks for their interactive student notebooks. These notebooks allow students to be well organized which is essential for ESL students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom stems from 4 walls, to the garden, to the dessert. We are constantly doing anything and everything.
I believe in reinforcing the basic science skills. I tell my students to have a notebook ready and available as science comes at you everyday and at anytime.
Our favorite quote is "work work."
I am blessed to work in inner city Los Angeles.
The skyline on the right day is majestic. My school is blessed to be home to a diverse population of students. A lot of my students can't come to school prepared on the first day (even the first week) as many other students of affluent schools. Working with ESL students is a joy however a lot of hard work. I find the biggest challenge is keeping and maintaining organization in the classroom. A lot of my students are eager to learn and build upon concepts however they lack the foundational skills such as organization, creating references to use, as well as neatness. These students quickly understand the importance of their notebook and take pride in presenting them during student lead conferences. I tell my students to keep these books for high school as they are a valuable asset to refer to in the early school.
My Project
These notebooks are used on a daily basis, they use they for warm ups as well as cool downs, Cornell note taking as well as various classwork. It's also a valuable tool for them to refer to for quizzes and exams as then can refer to specific pages to study from. This year students used their notebooks for brain storming for their science fair activities. Students referred to their brainstorms and rough draft to produce a final science fair product. Students that attend field trips use them for drawing, making notes as well as reflections.
As a teacher am personally into reducing the amount of copies I use in the classroom.
My students are looking for something they can call their own. Giving my students a notebook gives them a glimpse of ownership, responsibility and pride.
It sounds funny to say that about a notebook however some students truly take great care of their books and become very sad if their lose their book.
