One Desktop Computer for the Classroom

My students need one classroom computer to do research in my history class for occasional projects, paper, and local/statewide contests.

My Students

My classroom has 150 students across all levels daily. We learn. We laugh. We care for each other to foster learning. The biggest challenge is teaching my students computer skills and writing skills that they will need for their life. I want them to use technology to communicate with others.

My school is a schools with a large low-income student population.

My students lack resources at home and in the classroom. They are eager to learn, and kids with good grades. My 150 students are looking for an opportunity to shine, an opportunity to learn. They crave knowledge. They are an amazing group of kids that desperately need opportunities to shine. I have students with disabilities and english language learners that require my attention. I help them the best that I can and give them all the resources that I have on hand.

My Project

My students will use the computer in more ways than one. They will be able to research information, gather information, present information, present projects, learn computer skills that may not be taught in school, and carry those skills with them for life. I want them to take an active role in learning rather than the passive role of recipient of information transmitted by a teacher or a textbook. I want them to actively think about information, making choices, and executing skills that may not be found in a typical teacher-led lesson.

This project improve your classroom because it will support independent work as well as collaboration among students.

I want them have access to a variety of tools and resources with which to work. The computer will allow students to work through a computer-based activity at their own pace. Students can build on their own understanding by using computers as resource tools, as work stations for individual learning, or as communication channels to share their ideas with other learners.
