My students need 6 NOOK Simple Touch eReaders with covers to help them continue to be motivated to read and to have access to a variety of e-books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." by William Butler Yeats. My greatest desire is to spark the flame and light the fire in each of my student's reading experiences by motivating them to read even more books without having to search endlessly through bookshelves.

I have the privilege of teaching fourth grade gifted students at a neighborhood school in an urban part of Florida.

My students are a diverse group of eager learners who come from a wide variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. They also have a wide variety of learning needs and challenges. Our school is a Title I school, which means that over 70% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch.

My Project

The purpose of this project is to introduce NOOK eReaders to our classroom as a means of motivating and encouraging students to read on a daily basis. These eReaders will serve as an alternative to going to the library or searching through our classroom library for a great book to read. An even greater advantage is that instead of students waiting their turn to share one copy of a book, they'll be able to circulate multiple copies of the same title without spending extra money. But wait, that's not all! My reluctant readers would get a motivation boost by wanting to get their hands on a Nook to read for themselves. These Nooks will most definitely allow my students to access tons of books that will make them super delighted to read, read, and READ some more!

Because of you, my students will have access to these great technology reading devices which will allow them to continue to fuel their reading achievement and increase their overall motivation to keep learning.
