No Bullying! Incorporating WEB- Where Everybody Belongs!

My students need 9 boxes of gloves, 3 boxes of straws, 3 pads of large 3M paper, 2 pocket folders and more to teach lessons on anti-bullying and positive school climate.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to transition to a new school? Confusing, intimidating, scary, exciting, and different. WEB is an innovative program which creates a structure that connects every incoming student with a caring upper grade student. The 6th grade students who are transitioning to middle school are the major stakeholders. The goal of working with these students through WEB orientation is to provide a memorable welcome: introducing them to a safe environment, helping them build instant relationships with their peers and older mentor students, and providing information about middle school in a positive environment.

After the initial orientation, 6th grade students remain the focus, as the WEB program continues to educate and build connections through follow-ups that are both social and academic in nature.

By implementing the WEB program, three fundamental transition needs are addressed: safety, information, and connection. The intended outcomes include an overall increase in positive school climate and culture, specifically related to increased academic success. Furthermore, positive peer relationships and school safety increases. WEB begins with a fun and energetic orientation day that gets 6th graders excited and proud to be attending their new middle school. It also allows them to begin developing relationships with other students as well as learn strategies that will contribute to their middle school success.

My Project

The WEB Leaders not only help organize and guide the 6th graders through orientation day, but they also help to facilitate a smooth transition both socially and academically throughout the year. Using a series of social, academic and leader initiated interactions; the WEB Leaders maintain contact with their 6th grade groups and mentor them throughout the year. The resources will be used during WEB Leader Training and during our 6th grade Orientation Day. Training our leaders is an intense 2-day process, which requires numerous supplies. We are in need of folders for our Leader Handbooks, easel paper for our training sessions, straws for our training and orientation, markers for posters, name tags for orientation, and the list goes on. All supplies directly affect the successful transition of our 6th grade students and developing 8th grade leaders.

WEB is a program designed to help stop bullying in the schools.

We want our Middle School in Chaska, MN to be safe and a great place to be and learn. Your donation will help us keep this program funded and will ensure that we make a difference in the lives of our students.
