After the initial orientation, 6th grade students remain the focus, as the WEB program continues to educate and build connections through follow-ups that are both social and academic in nature. By implementing the WEB program, three fundamental transition needs are addressed: safety, information, and connection. The intended outcomes include an overall increase in positive school climate and culture, specifically related to increased academic success. Furthermore, positive peer relationships and school safety increases. WEB begins with a fun and energetic orientation day that gets 6th graders excited and proud to be attending their new middle school. It also allows them to begin developing relationships with other students as well as learn strategies that will contribute to their middle school success.
