Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do your remember your Kindergarten classroom? Chances are you had time for social interaction during the your day. Kindergarten students today do not have that luxury. I want to give my students time to grow and learn through cooperative play and create a positive room environment!
I am the luckiest teacher alive to be teaching to 24 of the sweetest, brightest and eager Kindergarten students that you will ever meet!
We are in a low socio-economic community. Our whole school receives free lunch and many of our students live in multi-family homes. Through all this my students come to school eager to learn and ready to work! With all the recent budget cuts and furlough days there is no extra money in the budget for any extras! I am requesting these materials to promote cooperation and positive interaction in the classroom!
My Project
It's never to early to promote a positive environment and it is my belief that children learn through play! My students would be able to use these resources and learn through cooperation! With the books we can write about how to be bully free in our classroom, what steps we can take to promote positiveness, and role play potential scenarios involving bullying. The dollhouse and dolls will promote sharing, taking turns and lots of oral language practice. It is also my hope that they would learn caring, respect and responsibility for these items in our class. Sadly, many of my students come from families that are struggling to make ends meet. There is no time in there lives for small luxuries. I want to be able to give my students the chance to learn to be positive and help them promote a bully free classroom by cooperative play.

The characteristics they learn in Kindergarten will follow them throughout their academic career! It is my hope to teach them to be positive, caring, respectful, responsible and tolerant.
