My Students

New York State requires the use of graphing calculators for grades 7 and 8 discovery learning activities and for Regents math courses and examinations. I need assistance in obtaining additional graphing calculators for learning in the classroom and for use on state and SAT examinations.

My students (grades 7-12) are hospital patients who attend a public school attached to a children's hospital.

Approximately 80% of my students are African American or Hispanic and come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Most are wheelchair bound. All suffer from serious medical conditions and are struggling to regain their health and obtain a quality education.

My Project

Both my school district and students are financially constrained. These additional calculators will provide my students with more opportunities to independently learn on and individually use graphing calculators to problem solve and meet state and national mathematics standards.

Donor's Choose purchase of these calculators will serve to facilitate the learning of severely disadvantaged children and enhance their ability to meet the challenges of an increasingly technologically sophisticated world.
