My students need the weather tracker, forecasting set, and weather maps to provide students with authentic activities to deepen their understanding of the weather
Students LOVE predicting the weather! We need these weather prediction materials to help engage students while forecasting the weather conditions for our area.
My fourth grade students attend a small, rural National Blue Ribbon school.
We always excel in state testing especially in science. My students are hard workers, great thinkers and excellent problem solvers. They work hard to reach goals they have set for themselves. Our closest weather station is an hour away. We always travel there as well as have an area meterologist visit our classroom. However, these materials will allow my students to become better weather forecasters before we attend the field trip or host the special guest.
My Project
I am requesting a weather forecasting kit and forecasting maps and models. This will allow my students the authentic materials needed to draw conclusions from basic weather knowledge to actual weather forecasting. Students will use these materials to make connections and see patterns in order to forecast accurately. In addition, I am requesting the weather model. This model is a three dimensional asset to our classroom that will actually help the students visualize and understand air movement, water cycle and the movement of clouds. Finally, I am requesting a wind vane. I currently have all the other weather tools for my students to use. This wind vane will be added to our classroom collection of weather tools we use in the outdoor classroom.
This project is necessary for students to draw conclusions, make connections, and recognize patterns in current weather trends.
Students will use the requested materials to forecast the weather.
