Middle Eastern Novels for Military Kids!

My students need Middle Eastern novels to learn more about international culture and history.

Our high school is located in a rural part of North Carolina just outside a military base. Most of our students are children of active men and women in the armed services.

Learning about the Middle East is of high interest to these students. Many of their parents are serving abroad and these teens have a passionate desire to learn more about the culture and history of the Middle East.

These selected books are novels and short stories exploring the lives and countries of the Middle East, notably from Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel and Iraq. Not only will these titles be circulated for pleasure reading amongst our students, but they will also expand on curriculum development for our World Literature courses and prepare students for college.

Understanding is the greatest political power we can give the young adults of this country. As our borders become more blurred through globalization, communication and understanding of others will become paramount to the successful navigation of the future. Help support our students by providing these award winning and critically acclaimed titles to our library.
