Students want to learn about microbiology, but much of our equipment is severely outdated. Many of the microscopes we have were purchased in the first years of the school's opening. My students are in need of some newer equipment to help them learn the best they can.
My students are all very intelligent and curious 7th and 8th graders.
They love science, particularly life sciences. We are in a suburban, middle class school with a large percentage of English language learners and low income students. Our funding does not cover much for upgrading to new equipment, only to service our existing supplies which are terribly out of date.
My Project
Science and technology is important in these kids' lives. Without access to updated equipment, my students will fall behind peers in better funded schools. These microscopes will replace broken and outdated microscopes the school has had since the late 1960's. The newer, better scopes will help students study life at the smallest level, and help them understand cellular structure and organization by giving them a close up view of the world's smallest level of life.
By donating to my class, you will be helping students succeed in fields such as microbiology, zoology and botany.
These are fields that interest and intrigue my students and with the proper equipment we can make sure that they are able to pursue their dreams in becoming scientists.
