My Students

John Lubbock said, "If we succeed in giving the love of learning, the learning itself is sure to follow." Our school goal is for all of our students to be successful readers and writers. By modeling the joy of reading and writing every day, students become motivated and inspired.

Our school is a joyful place where all teachers work tirelessly to help our students become engaged and successful readers and writers.

Over the past five years, our school library budget has been cut dramatically which has impacted the number of books available for our students and for instruction. One way that our teachers inspire students is by reading aloud multiple books every day. The goal of our daily read-alouds is to model literacy strategies and the joy of reading and writing. We have many students who are striving learners and who find reading and writing challenging. By providing them with interactive read-alouds and clear instruction on strategies, we have seen students fall in love with learning and make dramatic strides in their literacy development.

My Project

My students need a library of books to improve literacy including Rocket Writes a Story, Ralph Tells a Story and How to Read a Story. The books in this project will be used as models for reading and writing. Our goal is for teachers to read the books aloud to students to model reading and writing strategies. All of the books in this project were selected because they have strong messages that will inspire collaborative conversations. Students will be encouraged to return to many of these texts as models for their own writing.

The books in this collection will make a great impact on our classroom literacy instruction.

Teachers will use these books to model literacy strategies and engage students in collaborative conversations about reading and writing. These books will be shared with students to inspire a love of literacy and learning. Having access to new book titles will have a great impact on our students.
