This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Magnets are fascinating for children to work with and play with.

My students are second graders at a low-income Title I school.

Many are English language learners as well. As a result, they are lacking many of the real-world experiences that build background knowledge. They are great kids, but they need to see and touch real items to help them learn.

My Project

Our science curriculum and materials that are provided through our district are great, but there are only enough materials to do demonstrations for the whole class. I want to provide my students with a kit of magnets they can use to observe and investigate up close. They need real, hands-on experience to help them understand the principles of magnetism. I am requesting a class set of magnets along with some smaller supplemental kits to allow each student to have magnets to investigate.

Your help in funding this project will provide my students with much needed materials to supplement and enhance the lessons and materials we are already using.
