My Students

Walk through my classroom door and you'll be greeted by 17 curious, adorable, little first grade faces. We most likely will be engaged in games, technology, books, small groups, and most of all using tools (not toys) to assist in our learning.

My little firsties are from many different cultures.

We are all together having fun learning and trying to figure out how to be at school. We practice lots of procedures and behaviors in first grade. We are also still learning how to work in groups with other students. The three main rules at our school are Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Productive. We continue to practice these rules everyday.

My Project

My students love to use their tools (not toys) for learning. We do most of our learning in small groups. These magna-tiles and marble run will help us build from our imagination. The magna-tiles with help with spatial reasoning by building using geometric shapes. The marble run will help students with cause and effect. Students will be asked to design plans for a building on their white boards. Once they make their plan, they can use their plan to build with the magna-tiles or the marble run. After they've built, they may use our ipad to document their process and finished product. I am so excited to see what these young minds can create.

If you choose to donate to this project, you will be adding an element of design and creativity that is not in many classrooms.

Draw a picture, been there. Build with blocks, done that. Seeing your design in full 3D color or watching the marble run through a maze you created will be an awesome, enriching experience! Perhaps it will even plant the seed for a future architect or engineer.
