My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss This is one of our favorite quotes in our classroom. The students in my room love to read, but we need up to date exciting texts to keep that passion alive.

The students in my classroom are active and engaging learners.

They are always looking to take charge of their learning and help create an inviting atmosphere for others. I have 15 students in my classroom who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Some of the students in my classroom are English language learners, students with special needs, and students who are overcoming significant personal difficulties. All students in my classroom enjoy learning and are taking ownership over their learning as the year goes on.

My Project

These new materials will bring our classroom library up to date and allow the students to explore books at all different levels and in all different genres. By having sets of magazine subscriptions we will be able to explore current issues and students can explore nonfiction articles. The students will be able to read books that interest them. By having a variety of texts available, my students will continue to grow as readers.

Reading is the most essential skill students need to learn.

By having a variety of levels and genres within our classroom library, all students' needs will be met. They will be able to read for fun and at the same time learn to become better readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
