Nine consecutive years is a long time to be teaching at the same grade level, but like most things in life, time flies swiftly by when you enjoy what you are doing. I teach kindergarten in a rural primary school in Maine, where approximately fifty percent of the population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. This year, I am teaching 17 wonderful, bright, and joyful five and six year olds.

This proposal is the second part to a proposal that I submitted in October, 2008, which was amazingly filled just three days after it was posted by a donor from Texas. In the first proposal, I asked for and received a butterfly habitat, a worm farm, and an ant enclosure.

Although I received all of the habitats and am very grateful for them, I need the supporting materials to effectively teach my class. I am now asking for the literacy, math, and science materials to complement the first part of the proposal. We need the non-fiction books to learn about the insects, the science posters for visual aids, and the worm shaped math manipulatives to help us with our hands on math. I am also asking for several sets of leveled books, and an assortment of thematic fiction books.

Your help will ensure that my students have all of the supporting materials that they need to learn about the life cycles of ants, butterflies, and worms in a meaningful, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment. Thank you for choosing to support this proposal.
