My Students

Competing with video games is a challenge for modern day educators. Gone are the days of children playing board games for hours on end. Bananagrams is an incredible game that can bring children back to the board (and away from the screens).

My students are incredible!

Although many come from disadvantaged backgrounds, they are enthusiastic learners who truly want to be the best learners they can be. What they lack for in resources, they make up for in their natural curiosity about the world around them. Our school is an elementary school in a mid-sized Connecticut city.

My Project

We were going bananas looking for a game for the whole class? But thanks to Bananagrams, we don't have to look anymore! In Bananagrams, players race against each other to build crossword grids and use all their letter tiles. There's no turn-taking to create down time or waiting — it all happens at once and it’s a race to the finish. No matter the ability level, this game is drives kids absolutely bananas ... in the best possible way! The Bananagram books that we are requesting will provide additional resources for kids to use during the school day. They will reinforce their spelling, vocabulary, word usage, even math skills. Ultimately, they will learn you can have fun without a screen!

Our students desperately need to leave elementary school with the literacy skills necessary to be successful in middle school and beyond.

Finding more time for them to practice word usage and spelling can really make the difference!
