When I designed this project, my goal was to make learning fun for my students. I wanted to make school a place where my students wanted to be. With your help, we did just that- and more. \r\n\r\nThe materials that were purchased through this project have already brought countless hours of fun to our classroom. I wish you could see the smiles on my students' faces during a suspenseful game of Jenga, or hear the laughter that spills out into the hallway during a spirited round of Twister. This project has brought my students joy, and for that we are all immensely grateful. \r\n\r\nBut what I feel to be the most powerful impact of this project are the opportunities for connection and relationship, for perseverance, growth, creativity, self-expression, and choice it has created. As a Special Education Teacher, I get to see my students who at times have difficulty with social interaction or impulse control playing with their peers and practicing taking turns. I get to see students who have difficulty remembering information determined to beat their high score in Simon. I see students following multistep directions to create amazing Lego creations that they proudly display on my desk. I see students who are typically withdrawn come to life and express themselves while using Kinetic sand to pretend play \"Ice Cream Shop\" with me at the end of the day. When we are using the toys and games purchased through this project, we aren't just playing; we are learning. \r\n\r\nIt is because of you that this is possible. I now have bookends for nearly every shelf in the library! Our new magazine holders allowed me to clearly and neatly label the picture book section to make it easier for kids to find what they need.
