Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music is the universal language shared throughout the world. Music enables the children to have more opportunities to develop their cultural awareness.

My first grade students are incredible!

I have 22 motivated students eager to learn. My students come from a low socioeconomic background with limited resources available. Many parents work two jobs and are barely able to support the family. Most of my first graders do not even have books available to read at home. Therefore, I try to read a book before our day ends as a special treat that they look forward to. I know that if we provide them with the right support, resources, and opportunities, they can experience success.

My Project

My students need 2 recording microphones. We have music class once a week for only 30 minutes. We try to squeeze every minute we have with songs, dances, and playing various instruments. We listen to different genres of music and perform twice a year for the parents. The children love to perform, sing, and dance any chance they can get. With the microphone recorders, my students will be able to practice singing the songs they need to practice for school performances. We can play back their voices for others to enjoy and for them to assess their own singing.

Children have different learning modalities and music is one way to reach them.

Using the microphones will allow even the faintest voice a chance to be heard. Won't you consider funding this project so we can bring the Sound of Music into our class?
